Friar Alessandro Returns To His Travels In Europe

Wednesday 26th of November 2014

Friar Alessandro recommences his concert appearances in Europe next month with a benefit concert for the Irish Franciscan Missions in Africa in Dublin on 14th December. The concert is to be held at 4.30 pm in.the Adam & Eve Franciscan Church on Merchant’s Quay and Friar Alessandro will be supported by harpist and singer Marina Cassidy and accompanied on the organ by Sr. Anne O’ Flanagan. The concert will have a distinctly festive feel with Friar Alessandro performing a number of songs from his Christmas CD “Voice of Joy”. Friar Alessandro will be flying over to Ireland the day after receiving the prestigious European Personality 2014 award at the Campidoglio in Rome and Irish fans can assuredly look out for coverage of Alessandro’s visit to Ireland on TV, radio and in the press during the period of his stay. Tickets for the concert are already available online at https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/friar-alessandro-tickets-14264546643 See the poster below for more information.

After the concert in Dublin Friar Alessandro will fly on to Milan, where he is due to record with the Orchestra Verdi in the run up to Christmas, and will also perform in a concert at nearby Busto Arsizio. He will then renew his successful collaboration with Maestro Giacomo Loprieno and his orchestra, with a concert at Riva del Garda on 22nd December. Despite the busy schedule Friar Alessandro’s Italian fans should be able to get a glimpse of him again on Italian Television over the Christmas period. Friar Alessandro will also make his TV debut in Germany in a programme due to be screened by ZDF on Christmas Day, teaming up with renowned Mexican tenor, Roland Villazon, as the latter makes a voyage to Assisi on the trail of St. Francis.

In 2015 Friar Alessandro has accepted invitations to perform in a number of countries already. The first of these visits will be to perform 2 concerts in Malta in February of next year. The first of these concerts will be in Floriana on 7th February under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Malta. The second will be a concert held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the visit of Pope John Paul II to the St. Paul Collegiate Church in Rabat. This latter concert to be held in the St. Paul Collegiate Church itself will be televised for Maltese television. Friar Alessandro will be supported by an orchestra and choir. There is already substantial media interest in Friar Alessandro’s visit and in respect of these events. Later in the year the singing Friar is due to appear in France in early May, and in the Czech Republic (Prague) in early June. He will return to Italy however in the interim, having an engagement to share his gift and his testimony from Franciscan friars throughout the world who will be arriving in Assisi for the General Chapter there which commences in mid-May.
